Spring 2020 Bucket List

When I was a kid and it was 5pm on a late December night and I was walking home freezing my ass off from basketball practice and it was already dark, just as it had been when I woke up that morning. Yeah all the way back then, I used to think, wouldn’t it be great if it could be like spring all year long?

Be careful what you wish for.

I live in Ecuador where I have twelve hour days every single day of the year. And most of the time the temperature falls somewhere between 55-75 though the sun/cloud cover can make it feel significantly different than what is seen on the gauge. But basically, I have spring/summer all year round.

I have lived here for 10 years now. The first three were wonderful but I have to admit I miss the change of seasons. There is something so fresh and new about the whole thing. And since I’ve had kids, even though the season doesn’t change, I try to make a bucket list for each season that they would have, had my husband and I chosen to live in the USA instead.

Spring and summer are by far the easiest to create because that’s what we really have here. By the time Fall and Winter roll around, I have to get creative without straying too far (because then what would be the point?)

So as we head into March, I have my Spring 2020 Bucket List ready to go, even though our newest addition will be brand new at this time, I still think I can get through it.

I know spring technically begins March 20 but I do mine by months of the year rather than the actual seasonal date. This is a purely in my head kind of reasoning but I can’t fathom still doing a spring bucket list in June. So my bucket lists are usually as follows:

  1. Spring: March 1 – May 31
  2. Summer: June 1- August 31
  3. Fall: September 1 – November 30
  4. Winter: December 1- February 28/29

So, there’s mine. What’s on your spring bucket list?
