About Us
If you want to learn more about us, you’re in the right place. Read on to learn who we are.
ME
Hi! I'm Sher. I'm a thirty year old preschool teacher ready to have my third baby. This is blog is where I right about everything that's important to me. My husband, my kids, keeping things organized, and my frustrations. I hope you enjoy!
THE HUSBAND
Meet my husband, Pedro. More than likely you'll never hear directly from this man but he gives me a lot of material. Frustrations, remember? Also a lot of love. Even if he never makes posts for the blog, he's my partner in crime and my best friend.
THE KIDS
I currently have 2 kids with one on the way. Meet Emily, Ellie, and our soon to be baby boy. These little people are probably the entire reason for this blog, numerous late nights, a few headaches and countless bottles of wine.
That’s the short version. Read on if you’d like to know more.
Our story
I can’t tell our story without going back to 2007, the year Pedro and I met in the big city of Peabody, KS. Never heard of it? Really? It has a total population of about 1,000 people so that’s hard to believe.
Â
He was a foreign exchange student from Quito, Ecuador, I was a total nerd from a small town. But it was love. Thirteen years later and we’re still here. Watch our love story in pictures. Or Read about us below.
Â
As mentioned Pedro and I met in 2007 when he came to my high school as a foreign exchange student. Because my town was barely over a thousand people, we knew each other from the start but it wasn’t until February of 2007, that we started dating. After valentines day, in case you were wondering. Because he’s cheap.Â
This is still true.
Neither one of us expected the relationship to go anywhere. He was returned to his home country of Ecuador in three months. We even broke up for a few weeks during this time. But, somehow, someway, before he left, I bought my ticket to go and visit him in Ecuador before going off to college. It was there we decided neither of us wanted to end it.
From the summer of 2007 to the spring of 2009 we spent in a long distance relationship flying back and forth to visit each other when we were able to. It wasn’t easy and we had many times when both threw in the towel. To this day, I’m surprised we made it through.Â
In March of 2009, Pedro flew to Manhattan (Kansas, not New York unfortunately) where I was living and three months later, one month after my 20th birthday, we got married in the courthouse with my sister, brother, niece and mom the only ones to witness it.
Then in October, we moved to Ecuador, another crazy idea I came up with according to my family. And it was, I guess, but from the moment I set foot in Ecuador I loved it. Pedro’s family sometimes jokes that I didn’t marry him, I married Ecuador. (They might be half right, ha!)
We lived in a small apartment in the north of the city which was a change for me. I went from small town living to a city of about 2 million people but from the very beginning, I felt home.Â
We lived in that same small apartment for three years and moved out in October of 2012, after finding out I was pregnant in May of that year, to a small condo in the suburbs of the city. Pedro loved it from the very beginning but even now I still miss the city. Not the city, exactly, the weather. We now live in an eternal summer which never ever goes away.Â
In December 2012 we welcomed our first little one to the world. Our Emily. She spent 5 days in the NICU from some sort of infection and we finally took her home. From that moment on she’s been our little princess.Â
She’s funny, shy, crazy, not a cuddler, has a love hate relationship with being the center of attention. She a dancer and an artist. She talks non stop. She likes swimming and being messy. She likes her alone time and hates her school uniform. She’s easy going and hates fighting. She is loving learning to read. She works best in routines and doesn’t like to get out of her comfort zone. She’s a picky eater but could eat candy all day long if we let her. Same with movies. She could watch TV from sun up to sun down if we allowed it. That’s our Em.
In November 2015 we welcomed our second child to the world. Our Elizabeth. This little one went home the very next day. And until recently we were sure she was the last piece of the puzzle to our little family of four.Â
It’s crazy how much she’s exactly like Emily and how different she is at the same time. This little one is independent yet needy, a cuddler but likes her space. She’s crazy and funny and pony obsessed. She hates the water. She’d rather play a thousand times over watching TV. She is stubborn and strong willed and will. not. let. it. go. EVER. She loves her uniform and will sometimes wear it when she doesn’t have to go to school. She’s outgoing and friendly and even though she may be shy with adults, she’ll make friends with a kid in seconds. She’s a leader, a singer, and a inventor. That’s our Ellie.Â
And in June 2019 I learned we were going to have another one of these little things that take so much time and energy and bring the most happiness that the world has to offer.Â
And I wonder how he will be.
But through it all, Pedro’s been there. And I expect him to be here for many more.Â
That’s our story. And I’m sticking to it. Questions? Comments? Non-believers? Contact me I’d love to hear from you!
